How to Make Your Work Process Work For You

Ever wondered how the way you work does not seem to be working for you? A lot of us are stuck in this rut. So here’s what I think you can do – know when to disengage, refuel and recharge.

Pursue sustainability, stability and a healthy mind and sanity.

  1. You can simplify your work routine. This helps you save your mental energy for more useful stuff. For instance, you can decide what you want to have for breakfast everyday at work and how it’ll be delivered while you focus on other things like creating your to-do list while your waiting for breakfast.
See it as a work uniform of some sort.
  2. Compartmentalize. At close of business, walk away from your to-do list with confidence whether you achieved your tasks or not. There’s plenty of time to pick it up the next day.
Go home, unwind and be with family.
  3. Take advantage of your little pockets of free time. I always catch up on my devotionals, chat with friends sometime before bed.
Don’t squish out your personal time because workload got heavy. No matter how little time you’ve got, be creative with it.
I play video games in those times too. Gives my brain some opportunity to reset.
  4. Find an outlet. Yass! Very important, sometimes you want to vent during work hours or just let out some steam before you lose your sanity! Have a small circle of vent companions who’ll serve as your safe space! Help each other stay sane!
  5. It’ll end! Yes! So, keep the end goal in sight! Instead of looking at all the long working hours and sweat and late nights, see your end goal! What is it? A project that’ll earn you a promotion? An experience that’ll look good on your portfolio? A career switch with the opportunity to finally do something you love?

Whatever you do, stay sane by making your work process work for you!
